An Indian climber Vedvayas’s body was recovered by a search operation team nearly 2 months after he was lost in the mountains. He was a part of a five-member trekking team that went on an expedition to CB-13 (6264 meters) in June 2022.

As soon as his fellow members reported to the Indian administration about the disappearance of their team member, a search operation was started. But no one could find him for nearly two months.
Mountains can sometimes disappoint you. On June 16, the deceased climber plunged into a crevasse while attempting to cross a glacier at a height of 5,300 meters. Initially, his teammates tried to rescue him but could not reach him. Later, the incident was reported to local authorities and the Indian Army. Search operations started immediately after the report.
Sadly, attempts made by the authorities also failed. An emergency team from Lahaul, the Spiti administration, and the seven-member team from the Dogra Scouts of the Indian Army couldn’t reach him because of the bad weather.
Vedvayas worked at a private security company in Bengaluru. According to a report in the Hindustan Times, the team had started their trip with a permit from the Indian Mountaineering Federation but failed to inform the local administration.
After a month, on August 17, a rescue and a search team were sent again to the spot as informed by Lahual and Spiti Superintendent of Police (SP) Manav Verma.
Finally, the team could locate him. Rescue personnel led by ABVIMAS inspector Jitender recovered his body after nearly two hours of their search operation. Then his body was brought to the nearest road. According to Verma, it took them nearly 8 hours, and they had to descend 17 km just to find a road.
