  • Best alternative for tourists who prefer minimal physical effort and have limited time for vacation.

  • Chance to visit Ghorepani and enjoy the sunrise view from the popular viewpoint, Poon Hill.

  • Beautiful views of snow-capped giants in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges, landscapes, and local rural life.

You experience such beautiful things in a relaxed way, even if you're limited by time or travelling with family.

The tour is convenient. It doesn't require any heavy preparation, like trekking, and fits easily into a short Nepal itinerary. Local culture, stunning landscapes, and the famous Poon Hill (3,210 m/10,531.5 ft) sunrise are the major highlights that you can experience without days of walking.

Your travel will be smooth and stress-free, as accommodation and road access are all well-managed. You'll miss out on nothing. It combines adventure, flexibility, comfort, and Himalayan views into a single memorable trip.

Best Time For Ghorepani Poon Hill Jeep Tour

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are recognised as the best times for the Ghorepani jeep ride. During these seasons, the weather remains mostly stable, with clear skies offering exceptional views of mountains and landscapes.

The temperatures are also mild. It's warm in the day, while cold at night, but manageable with proper packing.

The other two seasons, winter (December to February) and monsoon (June to August), are off-seasons for travel, as the weather is harsh and the skies are mostly unclear, blocking the mountain views, especially during monsoon.

Traveling to Ghorepani and Poon Hill during winter is still considerable, despite being off-season. In fact, winter reveals the true face of the Himalayas, covered in white snow.

However, temperatures drop significantly at night and early in the morning, resulting in extreme cold conditions. If you're from a cold region and know how to stay warm in such weather, a winter jeep tour to Ghorepani is perfect for you.

Other Nearby Destinations For Sunrise View

If you and all the members in your group are adventure lovers and want to explore more in the Annapurna Region, there are other nearby viewpoints, like Poon Hill, that offer amazing views of the ranges but with a different angle and landscape. You can add either of these viewpoints to this program. However, an additional amount will be incurred according to the number of days.

These nearby destinations are Mulde Viewpoint (3,660 m/12,007 ft), Khopra Ridge (3,637 m/11,932 ft), and Annapurna Base Camp (ABC, 4,130 m/13,549 ft). As an adventurer, you might enjoy discovering places on foot. To reach these destinations, you'll need to hike for days, as road access is only available up to Ghorepani.

Nevertheless, they're not far from Ghorepani. Therefore, you don't need to walk a long distance to reach these viewpoints.

Mulde Viewpoints and Khopra Ridge are popular for 180-degree views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges as seen from Poon Hill. While ABC is different. It offers a 360-degree view of the Annapurna Range.

From ABC, you can capture the Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, and other surrounding peaks from a very close distance. You can reach the other two viewpoints from Ghorepani in two days. But ABC is a bit far; it generally takes 4 to 5 days.

Excellent solo Nar Phu Valley Trek with Heaven Himalaya

Just completed the Nar Phu Valley Trek as a solo traveler and couldn't be happier with how it was organized. From the start, communication was clear. A proper pre-trip gear check meant I knew exactly what I needed and what the guide would provide. They arranged a sleeping bag and trekking poles for hire, which saved me carrying my own.Accommodation throughout felt genuine and welcoming rather than touristy, a real Nepalese experience rather than a tourist-trail one. Transport to and from the trailhead was reliable and comfortable. What really stood out was my guide Hari's ability to read my pace. Early on I struggled a bit with the altitude, and he slowed things right down without making it a big deal. Once I'd acclimatized, we picked up the pace significantly. Hari was genuinely flexible day to day depending on how I was feeling, rather than sticking rigidly to a fixed itinerary.I also picked up a stomach bug partway through the trek. Hari talked through the options with me calmly and…

Second time in Nepal with Heaven Himalaya

This is my second time in Nepal with Heaven Himalaya & I am writing this with gratitude & appreciation for my guide Hari, my porter Arun, as well as the entire team. This was meant to be my birthday trip, I had requested to summit EBC on the actual day of my birthday (29/5/2026), and i made it happen with the help & support of Hari and Arun.Hari has been very thoughtful and attentive throughout the trip, making sure to constantly ask/check if I’m feeling okay as we ascended to higher altitudes. As it got colder higher up on the mountains, Hari thoughtfully delivered hot water to my room every night to help me deal with the extremely cold nights. On my birthday itself, Hari also resourcefully brought a “Happy Birthday” candle which he got from Namche to the summit, and we created our own birthday “cake” using the candle and an apple. That was a very beautiful memory & amazing experience. As I was traveling alone as a female, Hari also did his best to find me the most comfortable accommodat…

    EBC Hike in May 2026

Last month in May 2026, I did the Everest Base Camp hike with Heaven Himalaya, and it was absolutely amazing. From the start they made everything easy . My guide Bishal, which he said meant thulo in nepali was so helpful and patient; he knew everything about the trail and mountains and also made us laugh all the time. Our porter Krishna was a star! He carried our bags without complaining and always had a smile, telling us funny stories in the evenings. I don't know what we would have done without him.The trek itself was so hard but so worth it. The views are just mindblowing; waking up every morning to see the mountains covered in snow is something I will never forget. Bishal and Krishna made sure we were safe and happy all the way.Reaching Kala Patthar at sunrise was unreal, seeing Everest in the golden light was like a dream. Bishal and Krishna were there with us every step, cheering us on and making it so special.I would absolutely recommend Heaven Himalaya for everyone. They are no…

Exceptional Service and a Birthday to Remember

They say the mountains humble you, but what I didn't expect was how deeply the people of Nepal would touch my heart.Couldn't have asked for a better crew for our Everest Base Camp - Cho La Pass - Gokyo adventure. From day one, Shankar, Ganesh, Dawa, and Prince treated us with so much kindness, patience, and care that it never felt like we were just another hiking group to them. They became our family in the mountains. Our guide, Shankar, was exceptional. Calm, knowledgeable, dependable, and always looking out for us every step of the way. He knew the mountains like the back of his hand and made us feel safe even during the toughest parts of the trek. When weather conditions in Lukla became unpredictable and visibility was poor, he immediately took action and arranged a helicopter to Kathmandu so we wouldn't miss our international flights. In moments of stress, that level of leadership and quick thinking means everything. It was my birthday during the trek, so I felt incredibly special wh…

Unforgettable First Trek to Annapurna Base Camp & Poon Hill

We had an amazing experience with Heaven Himalaya for our first trekking trip to Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill. We were actually recommended to them by a friend, and we’re incredibly thankful we chose to go with them. It was truly an unforgettable 2 weeks in Nepal. Our guide, Hari, was attentive, thoughtful, and always made sure we were comfortable and enjoying the journey. He was constantly on the ball, supporting us every step of the way and helping to adjust the itinerary whenever needed. Despite a few slight hiccups during the trip, he remained calm, flexible, and proactive in making arrangements to ensure everything went smoothly. Our porter, Anis, was also incredibly reliable and supportive throughout the trek. He consistently checked in on us and made sure our needs were always taken care of along the way.A special thank you as well to Ram, who was very helpful in coordinating everything behind the scenes and ensuring the trip ran smoothly from start to finish.Beyond the trek…

    Truly Unforgettable!!!

My friend and I booked the 14 day Annapurna Circuit with Tilicho Lake trek. The whole experience was amazing. Ram made it easy to alter the trip to our specific needs. We added flights, cut off 2 days of trekking, requested single rooms, and he quickly got us a quote and booked! Hari was our guide on the trek and he was fantastic! He attended to all our needs and safely guided us for the entire time. He did an excellent job of getting us the best rooms, served our meals every day, and did everything in his power to make sure us old men(63 and 74) made it over the Pass! Our porter, Denise, was equally impressive! I still don't know how he carried our bags for 10 days! Clear blue skies, endless views, majestic mountains, deep river valleys, friendly people, a truly unforgettable trip!!!

What to Pack

Packing List

Pack comfortable trekking clothes, warm layers, a waterproof jacket, sturdy hiking shoes, sun protection, water bottle, basic toiletries, personal medicines, snacks, power bank, travel documents, cash, and a small daypack for the Poon Hill hike.

Best Time for Ghorepani Jeep Tour

The best time for the Ghorepani Jeep Tour is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These seasons offer stable weather, clear mountain visibility, and comfortable temperatures for the jeep ride and short walks around Poon Hill.

Spring paints the hillsides with blooming rhododendron forests, adding vibrant color to the drive, while autumn delivers the clearest skies of the year, ideal for uninterrupted sunrise views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Ranges from Poon Hill.

Since the tour relies on mountain roads, both seasons also bring drier, more stable road conditions, making the journey smoother and safer. Winter (December to February) is still possible and offers crisp, clear mountain views, though early mornings can be cold, especially at Poon Hill. Monsoon (June to August) is best avoided, as heavy rainfall can make mountain roads slippery and increase the risk of landslides, along with reduced mountain visibility from clouds.

Trekking Permits for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill trek requires following two different trekking permits:

  • ACAP permit (Annapurna Conservation Area Project).

  • Trekking Permits for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Alongside these permits, specific local permits are also necessary. For detailed information and assistance, please feel free to reach out to us.

Food and Drinks during Poon Hill Trekking Tour

Along the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, both Nepali and western food is widely available.

Dal Bhat is a traditional and staple Nepali meal that consists of stemmed rice served with lentil soups, vegetables, pickles, and salad. It is a nutritious and filling meal that provides energy for trekking.

Moreover, lunch and dinner options include pasta, momo, fried rice, sandwiches, spaghetti, and noodle soup. Normally, you’ll get these food options for lunch and dinner.

For breakfast, you’ll get typically Himalayan choices like Gurung bread, boiled egg, and aloo Chana Tarkari (vegetables of potatoes and chickpeas) served with hot tea or coffee.

In terms of beverages, tea, coffee, soft drinks and sometimes even local alcoholic beverages are also  available along the Poon Hill trekking route.

Electricity and Charging Facilities

Electricity is accessible along the entire Poon Hill hiking route, with some locations powered by hydroelectricity and others by solar energy.

Charging your electronic device is generally possible, but some teahouses may charge a fee for using these facilities. Usually there are electrical outlets in the common dining areas or sometimes in your room as well.

It’s important to note that solar-powered electricity can be affected by poor weather conditions. In mountainous regions, if there is an absence of sun for several days, there’s a high chance of experiencing power shortages.

Tea houses might charge you more for charging electronic devices due to limited power supply. So, it’s advisable to carry a solar power bank or solar charger for your convenience.

Communication (Internet and Phone Connectivity)

In city areas like Kathmandu and Pokhara, guesthouses and restaurants typically offer free Wi-Fi.

Upon arrival in Nepal, you can easily obtain a local SIM card with a valid passport and a photograph. However for the internet, you need to buy data or voice packages as per your need.

During Poon hill trek, almost every guest house on the route has Wi-Fi. Most of the time they don’t charge you extra for this service, unlike on some other trekking routes. Additionally, mobile network coverage is available along the trekking route, except in specific areas.

Extra Expenses

In addition to the trekking package cost, there are several extra expenses to consider. Before the trek, budget for visa fees, flight costs, and required travel insurance.

During the tour, there will be an additional cost for hot showers, Wi-Fi, and charging facilities at teahouses. Snacks and hot beverages will also incur some expenses.

Post-tour, allocate a budget for tipping the guide and porter, and consider purchasing souvenirs to bring back home.

Blog

Is solo trekking allowed?

Yes, it available in Annapurna Region except restricted areas.

Visa and Arrival

Can I get a visa on arrival in Nepal?

Yes, Nepal provides a visa on arrival for most nationalities. The process is straightforward: you fill out an arrival form, pay the visa fee, and receive your visa at the airport. However, visa eligibility depends on nationality, and some countries are not eligible for visa on arrival. Citizens of certain countries (such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Nigeria, Syria, Ethiopia, Ghana, etc.) are required to apply for a visa in advance through a Nepal embassy. We always recommend checking updated visa rules before traveling, as policies may change.

Does Nepal provide a Visa on Arrival?

Yes, Nepal offers a Visa on Arrival for citizens of most countries at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. The process is generally straightforward: complete the arrival form, pay the applicable visa fee, and receive your visa upon entry.

However, Visa on Arrival eligibility depends on your nationality. Citizens of certain countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Nigeria, Syria, Ethiopia, and Ghana, are required to obtain a visa in advance through a Nepalese embassy or diplomatic mission before traveling.

To make your arrival smoother, we recommend completing the online visa application form before your trip, ideally one to two weeks prior to departure. This can significantly reduce processing time at the airport and help you avoid unnecessary delays.

As immigration policies may change, we strongly advise checking the latest visa requirements through official Nepal immigration sources or your nearest Nepalese embassy before traveling.

How can I buy a SIM card in Nepal?

Buying a SIM card in Nepal is simple and can be done upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or at authorized telecom outlets throughout Kathmandu. The two main carriers are Ncell and Nepal Telecom (NTC). You will need your passport and a passport-sized photo for registration. Ncell offers the fastest 4G and is suitable for urban areas while NTC has more geographic reach making it more suitable in remote areas and high altitude trekking circuits. If you want peace of mind, you can get both. Both the carriers also offers eSIMs, if you phone supports them.

Where can I exchange money upon arrival in Nepal?

You can exchange foreign currency at the currency exchange counters located inside Tribhuvan International Airport after landing in Kathmandu. Exchange services are also widely available in tourist areas such as Thamel. Major currencies like USD, EUR, GBP, and AUD are commonly accepted for exchange. We recommend carrying some Nepali Rupees before starting your Everest trek, as ATM and banking facilities become limited in the higher mountain regions.

Booking, Deposit & Payment

What payment methods do you accept?

You can make the payment through major credit cards, international bank (SWIFT) transfers or cash payments in ktm before the trek begins. But a deposit of 20% is required to book the trek and remaining payment can be settled in Nepa, on your preferred payment method.

What are the Cancellation and Refund Policy ?

You must note that your down payment is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. You have to mail us at info@heavenhimalaya.com at least 15 days prior to your trip departure date. Sometimes the cancellation can be because of unpredictable events (including extreme natural occurrences, safety or political concerns, or unexpected airport shutdowns), where you’ll have the option to reschedule your trek. Your deposited sum will be transferred to your upcoming trip.

Can I postpone my trek after booking?

Yes, most trekking companies allow date changes. Deposits are often adjusted as credit depending on company policy.
