Kala Patthar is one of the famous viewpoints in Nepal, located at 5,545 m (18,192 ft) above sea level in the Everest Region. It’s also the highest point of the EBC Trek, offering the closest view of Mount Everest (8,848 m/29,032 ft) and others, such as:
- Lhotse (8,516 m/27,940 ft)
- Nuptse (7,861 m/25,791 ft)
- Pumori (7,161 m / 23,494 ft)
- Ama Dablam (6,812 m/22,349 ft), etc.
To witness an amazing view of Everest, Kala Patthar offers a better view compared to the EBC. Trekkers mostly do a morning hike from the hotel in Gorakshep (5,181 m/16,994 ft) to here to enjoy the sunrise view. It takes approximately 3 hours for a round trip.
The hike to Kala Patthar is relatively short but steep. So, you may face challenges due to its altitude if you’re a beginner hiker. However, with a gradual ascent, you can reach its summit, and later, feel proud of yourself for the worthy reward you receive.
Good things never come easy. Hence, with a little effort, you can see such a mesmerizing view that’ll live forever in you.
