overview-iconMountain Biking Tour of Mustang Overview

A 10-day mountain biking tour to Mustang allows you to explore the natural fantasies of Nepal around Pokhara and Jomsom, Muktinath, via a biking adventure.

Nepal is a country stacked with many natural sites, and mountain biking is a nature sport that introduces you to these different areas. Exploring people, their day-to-day lives, roads, ravines, fantastic mountain views, etc. against the backdrop of beautiful scenery is one of the most fruitful trips in Nepal one can ever have.

The mountain biking tour of Mustang starts from the urban town of Pokhara and traverses several landscapes, including Jomsom and Kagbeni, then to quaint and pristine sites like Muktinath, Tukuche, Tatopani, and Beni.

Pokhara is a picturesque city that sits in the lap of the Himalayas. The lush hills, verdant forests, and pristine environment are the attractions of the valley. The mountains around the city have some incredible viewpoints that offer magnificent views of the mountains. Among them, Sarangkot is a stunning viewpoint that lies just above the town and offers some panoramic views of mountains in the Annapurna range.

And Jomsom, which lies north of Pokhara, uncovers Nepal’s astounding decent variety. The profound valleys and high mountains grasp a broad scope of people, groups, and territory, from subtropical wilderness to a top-dry scene at the one end of the Annapurna Circuit trail. It’s worth visiting on a mountain bike.

Mustang Mountain Biking Trail (Kathmandu–Pokhara–Jomsom)

A sightseeing trip to Kathmandu is what the mountain biking holiday in Nepal begins with. The city exhibits the rich culture, tradition, and religion of the people. Everyone would love to explore the grand palaces, temples, stupas, and monasteries.

During the mountain bike tour in Kathmandu, we visit the UNESCO-listed heritage sites, including Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. The sightseeing tour covers the ancient history of Nepal, along with some insights into Hinduism and Buddhism.

From Kathmandu, we take a drive along scenic rural terrain along the Trishuli River to Pokhara city, the center of Nepal’s tourism. As soon as we reach downtown, we will have an excursion around the lakeside and bless our eyes with the magnificent views of Mt. Machhapuchhre. The vibrancy of the city and the pristine air make the trip very appealing. Besides the late-night wonder, live music, and excellent food, one can never get enough of Pokhara.

As we proceed with the Mustang Mountain Biking Tour Package, we take a scenic flight to Jomsom. In just 25–30 minutes, we will land at the airport in Jomsom.

Jomsom differs from Pokhara in terms of terrain and landscape. The area is dry and secluded. As a biker, the tough tracks of the place will immediately catch your eye.

Moving forward with our veritable Mustang mountain biking tour, we assemble our gear and ride through the streets of Jomsom. We follow a pedaling trail along the Kaligandaki gorge, enjoying the scenic views of mountains and rocky terrain and experiencing authentic Tibetan culture.

A mountain bike ride to Muktinath (3710 m) and back

Further, the mountain biking tour in Mustang will get more exciting and adventurous. The trail is tough and rocky, but biking is fun if the path is not challenging.

Admiring the awe-inspiring views of mountains in the desert-like rocky terrain, we make our way up to Muktinath. There is a famous and holy temple of Lord Vishnu in Muktinath. The site is promising for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims and is also famous for its religious significance and the picturesque views of the mountains.

After a beautiful ride to Muktinath, we drop the trail and ride through some fantastic landscapes. We pass beautiful villages like Marpha and make our way to Tukuche. It’s an incredible experience to ride along one of the best mountain biking trails in the world and also to treat yourself to the warm hospitality of local people in those areas’ authentic communities.

While Marpha is famous for its apple orchard and local brandy, Thakali (a popular Nepali cuisine) is the memory of Tukuche. Further, we continue our mountain biking tour in Mustang with a drive to Tatopani and then to Beni. At Tatopani, you can enjoy a hot water bath in the natural hot water springs. You can relax and soothe your tired nerves with a hot water bath. It acts as an ailment for your tiresome mountain biking tour in Nepal.

At Beni, we will pick you up in a vehicle. The vehicle will drive us to Pokhara.

End the Mustang Biking Tour in Sarangkot.

From Pokhara, we drive up to Sarangkot, an excellent vantage point just above Pokhara city. At Sarangkot, we can enjoy the sunrise and sunset views amidst the mountains in the Annapurna range. After a long, tiring day, a visit to Sarangkot will improve your mood and make you feel peaceful.

If interested, you can also enjoy sightseeing around Pokhara after the biking tour. There are many things to do such as visit Lakeside, David Falls, Gupteshwor Temple, the International Mountaineering Museum, the White Peace Pagoda, Begnas Lake, etc.

So, are you ready for a fantastic mountain bike ride around Mustang?

The stunning landscapes and mountains are ready to welcome you with their natural splendor. The Nepalese people’s friendly gestures, great hospitality, and homely behavior will add to your memory of a mountain biking tour in Nepal.

Would you prefer trekking instead of a mountain bike ride in the Mustang?

We also have several travel packages to the region, such as the Upper Mustang Trek, the Upper Mustang Jeep Tour, the Jomsom Muktinath Trek, and the Tiji Festival Trek.

itinerary-icon Mountain Biking Tour of Mustang Itinerary

So, you have planned a biking trip? Please find the detailed itinerary of the mountain biking tour in the lower Mustang.

A representative from our team will wait for you at the arrival terminal of Kathmandu International Airport.

Make sure you look after a person with your nameplate! The representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu.

As you check into the hotel, the representative will give you a synopsis of our plans. Tonight, spend your time at a hotel in Kathmandu.

The sightseeing tour in Kathmandu includes a guided tour of the art, historical, and cultural monuments around Kathmandu that have been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site charts.

Today, after breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up for a city tour ahead. The tour starts from Kathmandu Durbar Square, a historical palace that dates back to the 16th century during the Malla reign in Nepal's medieval period. The palace is a vast complex with a palace, courtyards, and temples. We explore the periphery of the palace and visit a museum inside the palace.

After exploring the palace, we head to the Swayambhunath stupa, a large stupa placed on a hilltop surrounded by various Buddha statues and monasteries.

Next, we drive to Pashupatinath Temple, the oldest Hindu temple with many temples and statues that date back to ancient times.

At last, we head to the Boudhanath stupa, a huge stupa placed on a three-layered Mahayana. We visit all these beautiful heritage sites and end our day with a drive back to your hotel. Tonight, spend your time at a hotel in Kathmandu.

Today, we get set to leave the Kathmandu valley. After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will pick you up for an overland drive to Pokhara city. The vehicle follows a route along the Prithvi Highway full of countryside views of Nepal.

We will most of the time drive along the Trishuli River with fascinating views of terraced farmland, traditional villages, and lush hills on sight. We even pass rafting spots on the way to Pokhara.

After around seven hours of driving, we reach the beautiful tourist hub of Nepal—Pokhara. We check into the hotel, freshen up, and prepare for a relaxing exploration around the lakeside city of Pokhara.

With the pristine air, serene lake water, and mountains, lakeside Pokhara is a heavenly place to be. In the evening, we return to our hotel. Spend your time at the hotel in Pokhara for the night.

Early in the morning, we will transfer you to Pokhara Airport to catch a flight to Jomsom.

In around half an hour, you will be in Jomsom. Jomsom is a beautiful village with several local markets, guesthouses, and lodges.

From Jomsom, we get ready on our bikes and explore the beautiful terrain of Jomsom. We follow the rustic and tough trails along the Kaligandaki gorge and ride to Kagbeni.

Tonight, spend your time at a guesthouse in Kagbeni.

After a delicious breakfast in Kagbeni, we set out for an adventurous ride to Muktinath. Leaving Kagbeni, we climb up a beautiful trail that leads us to Muktinath.

Muktinath is a popular pilgrimage site in the Annapurna region. It’s the temple of Lord Vishnu, and there is a monastery nearby. The temple is also a wonderful location for admiring the panoramic views of mountains in the Annapurna massif. One can admire the views of mountains like Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Nilgiri, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Macchapucchre, and many other mountains.

We explore the holy places around the temple premises like an eternal flame, holy pond, 108 water spouts, and a monastery on reaching the temple.

Moving ahead with the ride, we can ride through some challenging tracks on the hills today. Tonight, we spend our time at a guesthouse in Muktinath.

Today, we ride down from Muktinath and follow a trail along the Kaligandaki gorge to Marpha. It is a scenic and interesting trail where we can enjoy some magnificent views of Dhaulagiri Himal and Nilgiri Himal.

And Marpha is a popular village known for its local brandy and apple orchards. Further, we ride downhill to Tukuche, a small town inhabited by people from the Thakali community.

Even the villages offer some amazing views of the mountains. Tonight, we spend our time at a guesthouse in Tukuche.

Leaving Tukuche, we drop by Tatopani. On the way, we pass the Rupchechhara waterfall and enjoy the classic views of mountains and wild terrain; we move ahead to Tatopani.

Tatopani, as its name implies, is a popular place with natural hot water springs. One can enjoy a hot water bath in the natural hot springs of Tatopani. Tonight, we spend our time at a guesthouse in Tatopani.

After breakfast at Tatopani, we ride along a path that will lead us to Beni.

At Beni, a vehicle will pick you up. The vehicle will drive us to Pokhara. From Pokhara, we ride up to Sarangkot, a beautiful vantage point just above Pokhara city.

At Sarangkot, we can enjoy sunrise views amidst the mountains in the Annapurna range. Tonight, we spend our time at a guesthouse in Sarangkot.

In the morning, we wake up to catch sunrise views from Sarangkot. After beautiful views of the mountains and sunrise, we drop to Pokhara.

Then we set out for a sightseeing tour around Pokhara. We visit places like David’s Fall, Gupteshwor Temple, Lakeside, etc., and get ready to drive back to Kathmandu.

We follow the same scenic route along the Prithvi Highway to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to a hotel in Kathmandu. Tonight, spend your time at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Today, fly home from Kathmandu or continue your travel to some other destinations around the globe.

We will drop you off at the airport three hours before your scheduled flight. We hope you had a great time with us. Thank you, and have a safe journey home.

The best time for a mountain biking tour in Mustang, Nepal is during the spring or autumn season.

March to May and September to November is the perfect time to explore Nepal’s fantasies and the Nepalese mountains in the Annapurna region. The views are unlimited; the weather is dry and accurate during this time.

Monsoon is a big no for this tour because the mountain biking trails get muddy and slippery because of excessive rain.

Also, winter is impossible for mountain biking as the path is full of snow.

Trekking with Professionalism and Trust

It was another superb trek with Heaven Himalaya over 21 days in Tsum Valley and Manaslu Circuit Treks. This was my 2nd trekking with Heaven Himalaya after the Annapurna Circuit and EBC. Throughout the trekking, my guide Shankar was truly professional in his guidance and was very resourceful when we had to adapt our original plan due to rain and snowfall. Shankar was in constant communication with Heaven Himalaya HQ at Kathmandu to ensure all is well at all times. This helped mitigate the many risks that comes with trekking in Nepal. Like my previous guides Dipak and Bishal, Shankar helped me to cross some very difficult tracks due to rain and soft ground. If I'm back in Nepal for trekking, I'll choose Heaven Himalaya, again.

Trek to EBC

Booking and travelling experience with heaven Himalaya is perfect. They approached professionally planning was flexible. The guide Bishal and assistant Ayush were perfect and pushing us in right direction to complete the 12 day EBC trek successfully. I would fully recommend this agency for your trekking experience at Himalayas Only cautious note I would add is the nepal infrastructure travel to and fro Kathmandu to Lukla is very basic and might sometimes disappoint due to weather.

Private Tour – Simply the best with unmatchable service!

I had the pleasure of organising a custom solo private tour from Kathmandu to Pokhara, trekking through the ABC/Poon Hill segments, back to Pokhara and then onto Chitwan for a short safari tour and then finally back to Kathmandu. Even before my trip started (and deposit paid), I was extremely impressed with the customer service provided by Ramhari by answering all the questions I had (and there were many), as well as doing so promptly (everything within 12 hours if it wasn’t just a couple of hours). My guide Ramesh and porter were fantastic, but the entire trip team from Ramhari to the drivers that were organised from my Pokhara to Chitwan and Kathmandu parts were all outstanding, this is truly a premium group with an extremely knowledgable and talented team. My guide, Ramesh, had decades of experience, and along with Ramhari who was also a guide, it truly was on display through the contacts and network they had to how they conducted themselves, I felt I was in the best hands, and I was. I felt I was always in the best accomodation in the hotel range, with the best views. Thankfully my trip was drama free with the recent weather/natural disasters, but I would be confident with Heaven Himalaya to ensure my safety and any changes/contingencies were effectively communicated and organised. I am so impressed with the service overall, and I hope to return back to Nepal soon and engage with Heaven Himalaya again for future tours/treks.

EXCEPTIONAL TRAVEL ADVENTURE IN THE HIMALAYAS

I took a chance on a local Nepalese agency called Heaven Himalaya to organize my trip to Nepal and it’s absolutely the best choice I made. I chose Heaven Himalaya as they offered the customized private treks that I was looking for (note that they also provide group treks). Plus, all the reviews I read about this agency were 5 star. I’m incredibly happy to have found them! And I WOULD GIVE HEAVEN HIMALAYA A 6 STAR review if I could. After weeks of trying to work with North American agencies for itineraries and costings of my dream trip, waiting days and weeks for an answer, I finally contacted Heaven Himalaya and they responded literally overnight with all the information and pricing that I wanted. And all throughout the planning process, the Heaven Himalaya team provided incredibly fast, helpful and truly personalized service. And even better, the experience they created for us during our trip was exceptional. We were taken care of from the moment Sanjib, one of the two founding brothers, met us at the airport with beautiful marigold garlands to the moment they dropped us back at the airport for our flight home. We visited Upper Mustang and then the Sagarmatha region, with some days in Kathmandu. Everything was customized to exactly what I wanted to do, they arranged everything including transportation, accommodation and meals. Even last minute add-on activities we wanted to do while in Kathmandu were arranged perfectly. An extra special thanks to Sanjib for making sure, all along the way, that our trip went so smoothly, and for the extra adventures we wanted to do in Kathmandu. And our wonderful guides Shankar (in Upper Mustang) and Bichal (in Sagarmatha) made our trip so special. At two points during our trip, we had some weather that created transport problems but the Heaven Himalaya team and their fantastic connections with the local transport companies found solutions to the problems that I’m sure no other agency would be able to do. I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND HEAVEN HIMALAYA. You will not regret it if you choose to visit Nepal. And I will definitely use them again the next time we visit Nepal.

Extraordinary Experiences

Thanks to our tour guide Mr Ram. We are very well taken care of, because of his good care and services. My children aged 9, 15, 17 years old didn't have many hiking experiences, but we made it up to Poonhill 3218m. Which is a great milestone in their growing path.

Spectacular experience in the Himalayas

The 12-day private EBC trek was a spectacular experience with Heaven Himalaya, from start to finish. All aspects were extraordinary, from initial contact to booking, onsite arrangements and attention to all details during the trek. The kind and supportive interaction in both Kathmandu and on the trek with the extraordinary Guide Bishal and Porter Aayush, were what made us successfully complete the EBC trek. They lended a hand when needed, arranged for the best available accommodations, and were never more than a few feet away to provide any assistance, answer questions or provide guidance. A first-class experience and highly recommended. We will definitely engage them again for our next trip to Nepal!
