Jorsale Village on the Everest Base Camp Route

Jorsale, also known as Jorsalle, is a small Sherpa village along the Everest Base Camp Trek route at an altitude of 2,740 meters (8,990 feet). Jorsale is the last settlement (lunch spot) before Namche and is a popular resting point for trekkers and climbers on their way to Mount Everest.

Jorsale village is a wonderful location on the north side of Monjo and south of Namche Bazaar on the bank of the Dudh Koshi River, which originates from the Khumbu glacier. One of the notable features of Jorsale is its stunning natural beauty, with views of lofty snow peaks and the rushing waters of the Dudh Koshi River.

The village has basic lodges and teahouses that cater to trekkers along the popular trekking route, like Gokyo Lakes and Everest Base Camp. Although basic, the lodges are comfortable and provide great food and accommodation facilities for visitors on every Mount Everest tour. It also provides a great opportunity to experience local Sherpa culture and hospitality.

There’s also a checkpoint in Jorsale where the army checks national park entry permits. After validation of the permits, you cross the Hillary Bridge and then reach Jorsale, a popular lunch spot after Monjo on the Everest Base Camp route.

Not only that, Jorsale is home to small markets where trekkers can purchase trek supplies and water.
