Located high above the Sherpa Capital, Namche Bazaar (3,440 m/11,286 ft), the Everest View Hotel holds a Guinness World Record award as the highest placed hotel in the world. Since its establishment in 1971, the hotel has become one of the world’s most iconic accommodations at 3,880 m (12,730 ft).
Most trekkers visit the hotel during their acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. It takes approximately 3 hours or a bit less to reach here, varying depending on the pace.
Moreover, it’s the best alternative to Everest Base Camp (EBC). So, those who are senior citizens, traveling with kids, or aren’t interested in gaining height daily, the hotel is the ideal option to witness the magnificent view of Mount Everest and other towering peaks, such as Lhotse (8,516 m/27,940 ft) and Ama Dablam (6,812 m/22,349 ft), in the Mahalangur Range while having a delicious breakfast.
Another interesting fact about the Everest View Hotel is that it lies within the boundary of Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hence, besides immersing in the local Sherpa culture and enjoying the mountain views, you may also encounter some wild species, such as the snow leopard, red panda, Himalayan tahr, musk deer, and golden eagle.
To reach the Everest View Hotel, there are two options available. One is by hiking from Lukla (2,840 m/9,318 ft) via Namche Bazaar, and another is by helicopter. Nevertheless, whether the hotel is used for acclimatizing the body for a further journey to the EBC or as a luxury mountain trip to enjoy only the view, it’s always on the bucket list of travelers.
