How many tourists did Nepal’s Annapurna Circuit receive in 2022?

Nepal’s Annapurna Circuit alone received 15,900 tourists in 2022. To be precise, 10,364 men and 5,536 women visited Nepal’s popular trekking route, the Annapurna Circuit. This new number is 13,627 more than the previous year, 2021. Among the 20+ nations, most people who trekked to the Annapurna Circuit were from France, i.e., 2,012.

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a famous trekking route that connects five districts of Nepal, i.e., Lamjung, Manang, Kaski, Mustang, and Myagdi. A normally fit person takes around two weeks to complete the route on foot.

According to the police checkpoint for the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in Dharapani, only 2,273 tourists visited the popular Annapurna Circuit in 2021. The number is very low because of the COVID restrictions in Nepal. While we also cannot deny the fact that, after people were finally able to travel without COVID restrictions, they tended to choose more nature-connected and quiet trails again.

Number of Tourists received by the Annapurna Circuit each year after 2018

2022 A.D.: 15,900 tourists

2021 AD: 2,273 tourists

2020: 36,647 tourists

2019 AD: 29,484 tourists

2018 AD: 21,068 tourists

The above numbers prove how Nepal can invite more adventure tourists to showcase the best natural side it has. Also, it hints at the popularity of the long-walking destinations that tourists are choosing lately. After a month of lockdown brought on by COVID-19 worldwide, people tend to choose quiet nature tours in Nepal again instead of overcrowded city areas.
