Tengboche monastery is the Buddhist pilgrimage site that lies at the base of Mount Ama Dablam where pilgrims & travelers receive blessings. The monastery is the path to Paradise because Rinpoche lived there and blessed the mountain travelers.
Tengboche is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region at an altitude of 3,867 meters (12,687 ft). The Buddhist shrine is beautifully stationed at the junction of rivers, Imja Khola and Dudh Koshi following the mountainous trail through Namche Bazaar. Besides, the Buddhist wonderland is also the host of the glaring Mani Rimdu Festival every October.
History of Tengboche Monastery
Lama Gulu built Tengboche Monastery. Like a belief that Vajrayana Buddhism doesn’t distinguish between sexes, they established the nunnery there.
Lesser known fact, the primary Tengboche Monastery was burnt down in 1989. Later, the site was built stronger with solid structure and stone masonry on demonstration.
