The British Mt. Everest expedition team gave the peak the name “Island Peak” in 1953 as the pinnacle appeared as an island in the ocean of ice from a perspective at Dingboche. Though it's name is "Imja Tse" it's still popular as Isalnd Peak.
Climbing Mount Everest may not be suitable for everyone, as it is time-consuming, physically demanding, and expensive. If you are a vivacious and genuinely fit trekker with minimal mountaineering experience, then Island Peak Expedition is ideal to seek the thrill and challenges of climbing.
The trail traverses through the Sagarmatha National Park and passes through various Sherpa villages on the way to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, and then Gorakshep. Filled with Buddhist shrines, these villages of stone charm our path to the mountain.
We reach the peak via the path of chhukung where we follow a trail that leads us to the beautiful Imja valley. We slowly and steadily head towards Island Peak Base Camp, enjoying some magnificent views of mountains all along the trail. The close-up views of Ama Dablam and Lhotse will keep you engaged throughout the day.
This trip is generally done in combine with the classic EBC trail so you get the whole package of the experience and not miss a thing.
